Dedicated to the Emerging domain of written, documented movement.

Eshkol Wachman Movement Notation (EWMN) is a system of movement analysis that was created in 1958 by Prof. Emeritus Noa Eshkol of Tel Aviv University and her then-student, Prof. Emeritus Avraham Wachman of the Technion in Haifa. Since then, it has been applied in fields as varied as physical therapy, dance, animal behavior, and early diagnosis of autism. Our mission is to acquaint people from various fields with the benefits of using EWMN.

Hi! thanks for this service! I read that lessons 2 - 10 are available to registered students, but how to register... did i not do that? i look forward to wrapping my head around the notation!

I am curious to know if the convention with EWMN is to orient towards a direction in a performance space (eg North), or whether each move is from the perspective of the dancer: eg:

    R 0 0 1 1
    L 0 0 1 1

could be read as four steps North, then four steps North East, or

    R 2 2
    L 2 2

could be walking in a circle!
no doubt this all becomes clear in lesson 2 :)

    regards, tim

Currently we are working on remodeling many of the lessons to go with the new site. We are debating on which lessons are free (i.e. you can view the first lesson). While the other lessons and certain forum sections require student membership. As of now only administrators and teachers/moderators are allowed to grant access to those sections by upgrading a registered person's status to a student. Sorry for the confusion as we transition to this new site. Please check back later in the month.

    Hi,
I was wondering if you have completed the upgrades to the website and are allowing access to the remaining lessons? I was really happy to see this website. I only got to sit in on a couple of lessons when I was at UF and would really like to learn the technique.

    Sincerely,
    Melanie

    Thank you,

Hello, I have the same problem as the people above. I have registered and can still see only lesson 1 - is there a ten week interactive course or not?

    Thanks,

    Sophie
